Health and Nature #2 is the second in the Health and Nature series at Green River College. it is the second class, although the classes can be taken in any order. There will be a very brief review of the first class (Health and Nature #1); however, this class will contain primarily additional info about the influence of nature especially as it relates to holistic health benefits and a new virtual in class Forest Therapy walk. Some of the topics for the #2 class will include:

  • ·      A couple more examples of research supporting Forest Therapy, including the value of 1) Silence in nature, 2) Being in awe of nature, 3) Fractals in nature etc.

  • ·      Considerations for your own ‘DIY’ Forest Therapy walk and places to immerse.

  • ·      Forest Therapy’s growth here and globally, due to its profound impact on

  • well-being.        

  • ·      Perceived stress and its impact

  • The benefits of being around water as in the ocean, rivers, lakes etc. This is also referred to as ‘Blue Mind Therapy’

  • ·      A virtual Forest Therapy walk as an example of experiencing an outdoor Forest Therapy walk

Opportunity at the end of class to sign up for a free optional Forest Therapy walk at a later date possibly at Nolte State Park. The walk will be approx. 60 minutes in length, led by certified Forest Therapy guide Kathy Holley, PhD.
